[Class 20(iv)] A concrete beam or the like comprises an arch 1 of concrete, which may or may not be reinforced, the slingers 1<SP>1</SP> of which rest upon and are secured to the ends of a tension strip 2 of prestressed reinforced concrete which absorbs the shearing strains of the arch. The beam is thus of (hollow) bow-shape in longitudinal vertical section. Filling material 4 may be used to obtain a horizontal surface above the arch.
