[Class 78 (iii)] In a low lift truck of the kind having a lifting head 13 connected with a platform supporting standard 15 by swinging links, and means to automatically extend wheels 36 from the platform 14 when the standard is raised by power means, the swing links 16, 20 are of unequal length and are arranged so that the platform is horizontal in its extreme positions of adjustment, but therebetween it is tilted, so facilitating entry and removal thereof between the top and bottom members of a pallet. The standard 15 is raised against the pull of a spring 22 by a hydraulic thrustor 25 which pivots a bell-crank 28 about 29 so engaging a roller 30 thereon with a member 31 secured to said standard. The lower and longer link 20 is pivoted at 32 to a rod 33 which, when the standard is lifted, pivots a wheel supporting arm 35 about 34. In operation the platform is lowered as in Fig. 1 and is entered into the fork space in the pallet P as in Fig. 3 (not shown), rollers 37 serving to facilitate entry, the thrustor is then actuated and the platform lifts the pallet as in Fig. 4. On arrival of the truck at the new station the thrustor release valve is opened so lowering the platform in two stages, first until the rollers 37 are in their lowest position resting on plank x and wheels 36 are resting on the ground, and secondly, on subsequent lowering of the standard 15, the other end of the platform is lowered on to the plank y and the wheels 36 are simultaneously further retracted into the platform until they also are on the same level as planks x and y as in Fig. 7, so allowing unobstructed withdrawal of the platform assembly. The truck is propelled by a motor 11 mounted on the wheel A which is rotatable about a vertical axis by a steering arm 12.
