Abstract

649,337. Pickers for looms. STEVENS, A. H. (Rocque Mfg. Co., Inc.). Nov. 28, 1947, No. 31532. [Class 142(iii)] A picker for a loom is made from magnesium or its alloys, and has a sleeve portion 22 containing a hard metal lining for sliding over a picker rod, a horizontal body portion 48 and a picker head portion 53 containing a replaceable resilient picker head. A picker stick bearing portion 74 extends vertically above and below the body portion and is provided with a convex bearing surface 80 for engaging a picker stick. Hard metal bearing plates 50 are secured by rivets 52 to each side of the body portion and engage a longitudinal slide in the shuttle box casing (Fig. 8, not shown). A strap 34 having a slit 33 on one end is passed through an aperture 32 in the picker, the free end 42 being threaded through the slit 38 and secured to the picker stick. An annular flange 102 is provided in the picker to contact a buffer (not shown). The resilient picker head is provided with a conical recess 86 (Fig. 2, not shown), for receiving the shuttle tip and is held in the head portion 53 by a screw 90.
