Abstract

647,941. Lamp holders. ABSHIRE, H. W. Feb. 15, 1945, No. 3824. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Groups XI and XL (a)] A supporting device for an elongated tubular discharge lamp 5 comprises two socket elements 18, 19 for receiving the ends of such a lamp, joined by a thin rod-like spacer 15, and an insulated hook 21 associated with each socket element. Housed in each socket element is a socket 25, Fig. 4, containing in channels 31, 32 contacts 29, 30. The contacts 29, 30 are urged forward to grip the lamp pins by a spring 27. The spacing rod 15 is hollow and contains the current leads for the lamp. Holding rings 16, 17 at the ends of the spacing rod 15 embrace the socket elements 18, 19. The hooks 21 may be of rubber with metal reinforcements 23.
