Abstract

647,867. Fire-extinguishing. MARTEL, C. A. Nov. 4, 1948, No. 28635. [Class 47 (ii) ] A sprinkler device mounted in a housing 2 in a ceiling 4 and comprising a double-bottomed liquid container 3 which is supported it a screwed rod 8 and is provided with inclinec holes 7 near its lower end, is operated by a cartridge 32 housed in a tube 30 and detonatec by a pin 19 which is carried by a spring 16 released by a fusible link 22. The cartridge blows a cap 40 from a discharge opening 38 in the upper bottom 5 of the container which is simultaneously released for rotation under its own weight by the disengagement of a cartridge pin 35 from a hole in a plate 36 fixed to the screwed rod 8. The spring 16 also 'operates a switch 14 controlling an alarm.
