[Class 96] [Also in Groups I, VI and XVII] A package for cleaning or sanitary purposes (finger napkins, wound - cleaning pads, baby flannels or toilet paper) comprises one or more wet pads 1 of highly absorbent fibrous material (cellulose wadding or creped cellulose paper) the moisture content of which includes a disinfectant (boric acid) and a hygroscopic agent (glycerine) and which is enclosed in a substantially air- and moisturetight envelope 6 (thin foil or sheet metal or cellulose acetate). The pad 1 may have a flexible backing 2 of stronger material which is impervious to moisture (muslin, calendered or waxed paper, rubber or cellulose acetate). The impregnant may be applied during or after the manufacture of the absorbent material, and it may include a detergent (soap) or a perfuming substance. The package may also contain one or more dry pads 5 which may carry the perfuming substance. The pads 1 may be interleaved with moisture-repelling layers (metal foil or waxed paper) and can be wound up as rolls. In the form shown, a pad 1 is folded with portions of its wet surface 3 facing each other and substantially surrounded by its backing 2, enclosed in a moisture-impervious wrapping 4, and together with a separately-folded dry pad 5, is enclosed in an envelope 6 which is sealed by a pressure-adhesive tape 8.
