[Class 39(iii)] An electrically - heated fire - lighting device comprises a resistance element a carried by a thermal insulating block d which is secured to a body c preferably of metal. The body, which has a handle j, contains a pilot lamp i and a preset thermostat f. Alternatively, an adjustable thermostat may be used to allow more efficient ignition of different types of fuel. A time switch may be embodied or audible warning means substituted for the pilot lamp.
