Abstract

Solid vitamin preparations containing vitamin B1 (thiamine) have incorporated therein antipellagra vitamins in the form of the hydrochloric, hydrobromic or nitric acid addition salt of nicotinamide or nicotinic acid whereby the vitamin B1 is stabilized. Examples of suitable mixtures for filling capsules are (1) thiamine hydrochloride riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, calcium pantothenate and nicotinamide hydrochloride; (2) thiamine hydrochloride, riboflavin, ascorbic acid, pyridoxine hydrochloride, calcium pantothenate and nicotinamide hydrochloride; (3) thiamine hydrochloride, riboflavin, and nicotinic acid hydrochloride; and (4) thiamine hydrochloride and nicotinamide hydrochloride. The preparations may also be marketed as tablets containing the usual fillers and binders.
