[Class 59] A grinding disc has a smooth annularshaped grinding surface 13 provided with a plurality of recesses 14, 15 extending from its inner peripheral edge, the recesses having entrance openings along said inner peripheral edge and diminishing in depth outwardly of such edge, the outer discharge ends 18 of said recesses being disposed transversely of said grinding surface and being substantially wider than the entrance openings thereof, and closed elongated pockets 23, 24 in said grinding surface disposed across the discharge ends of said recesses and adapted to catch the larger particles of solid material discharged by said recesses. The recesses 14, 15 are arranged alternately; an elongated channel 21 is formed in the bottom wall of each recess 14, extending from the inlet to the outlet end thereof, and a similarly extending fork-like channel 22 is formed in the bottom wall of each recess 15. The bottom walls of the recesses slope upwardly from a side wall 19 to meet the grinding surface on a line 20. The grinding disc may be mounted in a mill as disclosed in Specification 592,828, to which reference is made.
