[Class 30] A safety razor has a curved clamping head comprising opposed cap and guard members 12, 10 and spring means 23 for holding them apart when the clamping pressure is released, the cap member being connected across one end of the clamping head by walls 13 to an extension 15 which underlies the guard member and cooperates with it or the handle to prevent inadvertent endwise movement of the cap member 12, and permitting limited separation of the clamping members to provide a blade receiving passage for the endwise presentation of a preferably slotted flexible blade with shouldered ends either by hand or mechanically from a magazine. The guard member 10 may be provided with a blade locating rib 17 over which the blade rides and is located by it against turning in the holder. A slot 18 in the cap 12 supplies clearance for this rib. The handle comprises an outer member passing freely through an opening 16 in the extension 15 and threaded at its upper end to engage the guard 10, an outer sleeve 21 and an inner spindle 22 freely movable in the bore of the outer member and threaded at its upper end to fit a threaded hole 19 in the upper part of the cap. A helical compression spring 23 is disposed between a shoulder 20 on the outer member and the extension 15. The guard 10 may be provided with an elongated perforated boss 24 to engage an elongated split stub of a magazine having a delivery slit and a rotary blade-feeding wheel. U.S.A.
