Abstract

<PICT:0638564/III/1> In a process for the precipitation of substances from their solutions by addition of an auxiliary liquid which is neither a solvent for the substance nor miscible with its solvent, a thin stream or sheet of the solution is subjected to the action of thin jets of the auxiliary liquid whereby the stream or sheet is broken up into fine drops in which the precipitatable substance is precipitated in a fine state of division. The auxiliary liquid may be preheated to evaporate the solvent and may contain an emulsifying agent. As shown, a solution of chlorinated rubber in carbon tetrachloride or of benzene hexachloride in benzene is fed into chamber A, which may be externally heated, through nozzle B as a stream which is broken up into drops by jets of water at 90-95 DEG C. from nozzles C. Hot water may also be fed through ring of jets D to trickle down the chamber walls. Evaporated carbon tetrachloride or benzene and water vapour leave at G and are separated by cooling, while the precipitated chlorinated rubber or benzene hexachloride is carried down as a suspension in water to the bottom of chamber A, whence the suspension passes to separator E, wherein the precipitate is separated from the water which is recycled. Boiling water or steam is injected as required at H to maintain the temperature and as replacement.ALSO:<PICT:0638564/IV (b)/1> As shown, a solution of benzene hexachloride in benzene is fed into chamber A, which may be externally heated, through nozzle B as a stream which is broken up into drops by jets of water at 90-95 DEG C. from nozzles C.
