Abstract

<PICT:0638378/IV (c)/1> Apparatus for use in straightening threads of wool, yarn, twine and like organic fibrous materials comprises a base 10 having a groove 14 formed therein and constituting a guideway for the thread to be straightened and along which the thread may be drawn, a cover 11 for the guideway arranged to grip lightly a thread in the guideway and thereby to cause tension to be applied to the thread as it is drawn along the guideway, connecting means 13 by which the base may be connected to a supply of steam and a conduit in the base leading from the connecting means to the guideway. The groove 14 has perforations 15 for the passage of steam into the guideway.
