638,370. Butter-oil making machines. CHERRYBURRELL CORPORATION, and SUGAR CREEK CREAMERY CO. June 6, 1947, No. 14978. Convention date, June 12, 1946. [Class 84] An apparatus suitable for use in the preparation of dry butter-oil as described in Specification 638,369 comprises in sequence a group of vats in parallel provided with heating and agitating means, a continuous separator, a vacuum type heater adapted to de-aerate and dehydrate the product. A preferred apparatus comprises a plurality of vats 1, fitted with power-operated, hollow agitator coils 3 which may be used to supply heat, a storage chamber 4 from which a neutralizing liquid such as caustic soda solution may be added to any of the vats via pipes 5. The treated butter-oil and water passes via pipe 8 to pressure type filter 12 and onto a non-atmospheric pressure type heater 14 and to a centrifugal desludging type of separator 16. The concentrated milk fat then passes to preheater 26 and to a vacuum type of pasteurizer 28 which consists of three chambers :- chamber 31 in which the oil is subjected to steam under reduced pressure, chamber 35 in which steam distillation and de-aeration occurs, and chamber 39 in which the material is cooled under vacuum. A freezer of the super-atmospheric type 49 may be added at the end of the apparatus..
