636,393. Cooling electric motors. VENNING, J. D. E. Oct. 10, 1946, No. 30334. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXVIII] A motor pump system in which a threephase squirrel cage electric motor 5 and a pump 1 are coupled directly and are immersed in oil in a closed casing 3, the oil being delivered under pressure by the pump to a point of use and after use being returned to the casing, and the motor having an apertured carcase through which the oil can pass for cooling and lubrication purposes. Supply leads 7 for the motor pass to socket connections 10 in the top of the casing. An electric heater which may be thermostatically controlled may be mounted in the casing so that the temperature of the oil may be initially raised to facilitate starting or may be maintained constant during running.
