Abstract
634,776. Reflection reducing coatings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 17, 1945, No. 34124. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1944. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (i)] An optical element, such as a lens made of glass, quartz or transparent synthetic resin, is provided on the outer surface thereof with reflection reducing coatings of different thicknesses to suppress reflection of light of unlike wavelengths. The coatings may consist of magnesium or calcium fluoride or a fatty acid compound as described in Specification 518,119, and the thicknesses of the two coatings on a lens are preferably chosen to suppress reflection of light of wavelengths 5000 A and 6000 A respectively. Curves indicating the percentage variation in the intensity of the stray light with change in wavelength are given.
