Abstract
A dipping solution comprises a polyvinyl halide having a mean molecular weight over 22,000, a plasticizer, a solvent and a diluent which has a higher vapour pressure than that of the said solvent, the amount of polymer being sufficient to give an article with the solvent and diluent removed which can be stretched 100-400 per cent and will snap back to its original length when released. A copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate is specified. As plasticizers, dibutyl or ethoxyethyl phthalate and ethoxyethyl adipate, as diluents acetone, butyl acetate and dioxane, and as solvents cyclohexanone, isophorone and acetonyl acetone may be used. The plasticizer sealants described in Specification 633,939 and di-isobutyl adipate as described in Specification 633,941 may be added. Specifications 472,653 and 540,256 also are referred to.
