Abstract

633,365. Protective covers for non-conducting coverings for pipes &c. SWANSEA SHEET METAL ENGINEERS, Ltd., and DAVIES, L. C. Feb. 24, 1947, No. 5331. [Class 64(ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Rigid protective cover sections disposed end to end so that each sheaths a length of piping, conduit, electric cable, &c. spaced therefrom by protective material applied directly to the piping &c. are each made of two complementary channelshaped parts A, B which are of rightangled U-shape in cross section and interfit so that the base of one part closes the mouth of the other. The outer part A has flanges a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> to hold the parts A, B together after assembly by springing the sides of the outer part apart. Eyed lugs a' are provided on the outer part to secure the coversection to a wall. If a section is assembled with the outer part on the inner side of the pipe, the two parts may be held together by straps with hooked ends which engage in eyed lugs on the outer part. The protective material may be felt, asbestos or alloy, heat insulating or electrical insulating material, and may be secured to the sections or to the pipe.
