Abstract
633,007. Carrier transmission systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and OLLERENSHAW, C. April 23, 1947, No. 10863. [Class 40 (iv)] Intermediate stations 23, 24 in a carrier system using power lines 15 have four-wire two-way repeaters 19, 20 connected in byepass circuits. The repeaters each include amplifiers 37, 45, Fig. 2, and filters 32, 38 and 40, 46 tuned to the different frequency bands used for transmission in the E and W directions. Local signals from a microphone 54 modulate a first carrier in a modulator 56, one sideband being selected by a filter 57. The sideband modulates a second carrier in a modulator 58, the second carrier frequency being so chosen that the two sidebands lie within the frequency bands E and W respectively. The sidebands are applied to the repeater circuits by hybrid coils 60, 35, 43 after amplification by an amplifier 59. A similar receiving circuit comprising demodulators 49, 51 and a filter 50 is connected to the repeater circuits by hybrid coils 47, 33, 41. In a modification, the frequency bands E and W may include two or more channels, additional local modulation and demodulation circuits being provided.
