Abstract
631,702. Hearing-appliances. POSEN, S., and HANSON, H. 'E. June 21, 1947, No. 16460. Convention date, July 25, 1946. [Class 81(ii)] [Also in Group XXXIX] In a self-contained electronic hearing aid having a chassis which carries a transformer and valves, one of the batteries is arranged between the transformer and at least one of the valves. As shown, a casing comprising a front cover 10, back covers 11, 12, side walls 14, 15, and a partition wall 16 projecting from the front wall has a chassis panel 23 extending longitudinally of the casing from the top thereof down to the partition wall 16 and dividing the upper portion of the casing into a front compartment 21 and a back compartment 22. A battery 20 of tablet shape is arranged in a raised middle portion 160 of the wall 16 and one terminal of the battery registers with a contact (not shown) connected to a clip 46 which has a further connection to the amplifier at a point (not shown) above the partition wall. Two metal strips 38, 39, extend the length of the casing and contact the terminals 36, 37, of a second battery 19. The outer metal shell of the battery 20 and the outer shell of a microphone 24 act as electrostatic shields between the transformer 28 and output valve 27 and the first two valves 25, 26, of the amplifier.
