Abstract

629,821. Press-button retractive switches. ELECTRO - HYDRALTLICS, Ltd., and HUNTER, A. Dec. 12, 1947, No. 32882. [Class 38(v)] The movable contact structure of a retractive push-button switch comprises a metallic portion 8 normally bridging spring contacts 5, and a non - pitting portion 9, e.g.. of carbon or silver graphite, which is first moved between and then beyond contacts 5 to break the circuit when the push-butt o n i s depressed against the action of a spring 17. The portions 8, 9 are cylindrical with flat contact faces proper, and the shaft 12 carrying them is of square section and moves non-rotatably in a square hole in a disc 13 having a tag 14 engaging a hole 15 in the metal casing 1. The push-button moves through a rubber packing 21, and a gasket 23 is arranged between the casing and a cover 22, so as to render the switch dirt and water-proof. The casing may be earthed at 25. The portion 9 is on the other side of portion 8 for a push-to-make switch.
