Abstract
629,723. Inductance and capacitance measurements. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS Ltd., and WRAY, A. G. Sept. 15, 1947, No. 25208. [Class 37] A Q-meter comprises a source of oscillations 1 coupled over a tapped inductance 4 to a circuit including the element under test (L or C) and tuned to resonance by a, condenser 12, the input and output voltages being rectified at 14, 10 and supplied to a device 15, 23 for indicating when they are equal, calibrated attenuating means 18 being included in one path. In operation, the condenser 12 is adjusted to give a maximum output and potentiometer 18 is then adjusted to give a null reading on the meter 23, the Q-value being read off potentiometer 18. The adjustable potentiometer may be between detector 14 and valve 15, and the meter may be between the anodes of valve 15, Fig. 2, not shown. In this latter case, the output from detector 10 may be mixed with that from the potentiometer and applied to one grid of valve 15, the other grid being earthed, Fig. 3, not shown.
