Abstract
629,372. Dielectric heating. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. June 17, 1947, Nos. 15914 and 15915. Convention dates, June 21, 1946. [Class 39(iii)] In order to avoid heat loss at the surface of material 10 being heated between electrodes 12, 13, in a mould 11, the mould is made of wood impregnated with a suitable wax to render it free of moisture absorption effects and to give rise to a dielectric loss in the mould sufficient to raise the temperature of the inner mould surface to at least the temperature of the material being heated. Alternatively, in dielectric heating without a mould between two electrodes, the outer surfaces of the material may be coated with a substance having a loss-factor higher than that of the material itself so as to form a zone of greater heating at the surface acting as a barrier to heat loss. Specification 629,371 is referred to.
