Abstract
629,169. Constructional toys. NIXON, T. C. Aug. 20, 1946, No. 24743. [Class 132 (iii)] Toy building elements of strip form are provided with integral spaced parallel projections at their ends which projections are formed in the width of the strip and are adapted to engage in and fill the spaces between similar projections on the next element so that when two elements are connected together the engagement between them constitutes a comb joint, whereby the elements can be assembled together and will remain in alignment or at any angle to each other by reason of the frictional engagement between the projections. As shown, strips of wood 10, Fig. 3, having parallel edges have projections 11 at their ends, the spaces 12 between the projections being approximately equal to the width of a projection. The projections may be in line at each end, or may be staggered. The joints may be locked by pins inserted in holes 13. If desired, some of the elements may be grooved at one side, the grooves 14 being parallel to and near one longitudinal edge, into which grooves floor panels 15 and the like may be fitted. Gable-ended elements 20, window elements of channel section '25, and channel section door jamb elements 27 may be provided to assist in the construction of buildings.. The channel section elements are formed with mitred ends. Boats, cars and bricks may also be constructed.
