628,560. Coin-freed article-delivery apparatus. HANSEN, N. July 4, 1946, Nos. 20068 and 20069. Convention dates, March 21, 1945 and June 22, 1945. [Class 27] A coin-freed vending machine is installed in a shop window, the article storage compartments 2 being disposed in the background of the display space 1 of the window whilst the articles discharged from the compartments pass down a sloping surface 8 to a delivery opening 9 beneath or in the window pane 3. The surface 8 may be of glass or constituted by spaced parallel rods so that goods 33 on sale in the shop can be displayed in the normal manner on a table 32 below the surface 8. In the apparatus shown the articles are arranged in piles in the compartments 2, and are ejected one at a time by a reciprocating slide 7, each slide being connected by linkage 26, 25 to a bell-crank 23 operable by a respective cam 19. Insertion of a coin in the slot 11 corresponding to the selected compartment 2 clutches a motor 21 to the appropriate cam 19 which rotates once and reciprocates its slide 7 to eject an article onto the surface 8. The cam, through linkage 22, 24, also opens a shutter 12 extending along the foot of the surface 8 so that the ejected article 13 passes through to the delivery opening 9. The coin slots 11 are formed in the bottom wall of the discharge opening, and sample articles 31 are displayed on a shelf above the opening.
