Abstract
625,635. Sewing-machines. STEVENS, A. H. (Free Sewing Machine Co.). Aug. 13, 1947, No. 22507. [Class 112] Lock-stitching by rotary hooks. One side of the bobbin-case raceway is formed by a gibring resiliently secured to the hook body, preferably by lugs extending behind a flange on the hook body and having spring means between them and the flange. In the form shown the hook body 15 is bevelled at 18 to form one side of a V-shaped raceway, and has a flange 16 except at the part near the loop-taking beak. This flange has gaps for the passage of lugs 34 projecting inwardly from a rim 33 on the gib-ring 24, and spring strips are placed between these lugs and the flange, their ends bearing on the flange at each side of the gaps : the rim 33 has one or more projections 32 engaging the gaps to prevent rotation of the ring. The bobbin-cover 13 is secured, and pressed on the bobbin to tension the thread, by a spring clip 20 secured by a screw and engaging a lug 22 on the cover 13. Lubricating. The raceway is lubricated by capillary action from an oil-retaining wick 27 lying in a circumferential recess in the gib-ring 24, a hole 29 being provided for replenishing the oil.
