Abstract

In an adhesive applying device, especially suitable for a continuous-rod cigarette-making machine, movement of the adhesive applying nozzle from the operative to the inoperative position cuts off the supply of adhesive, and vice versa. The adhesive is fed by the device described in Specification 625,270 and reference is made to Fig. 1 thereof. The nozzle 2 applying the adhesive to the continuous-rod cigarette paper 1 is mounted on a tapering hollow spindle 24, axially spring-pressed and rotatable in its casing by handle 31 so as to bring a port out of register with an inlet 7 when it is desired to cut off the supply. An adjustable stop 27 locates the end of the nozzle.
