[Class 75(iii)] A device for attaching a suspension member to a pendant article, e.g. a tubular electric lamp fitting, includes a socket member 14, Fig. 2, rotatably mounted in and projecting upwards through a hole in the top 10 of the pendant article and having at its lower end a flange 15 bearing against the undersurface of the top 10, and a hooked fastening member 18 engaged in two holes 16, 17 formed in opposite sides of the socket member 14 and serving to prevent the latter from dropping out of the pendant article when the suspension is unloaded, the arrangement being such that, when the suspension is loaded, the point of control between the member 18 and the suspension member 13 is eccentric with respect to the axis of the socket member 14. The member 18 may be symmetrical, the hole 16 being higher than the hole 17, or unsymmetrical when the holes are at the same level. In an alternative construction the said eccentricity of the contact point may be variable, the holes 16, 17 being formed as helical slots through which pass the inturned ends of the hooked member 18 to engage with vertical slots in a liner tube rotatable within the socket member 14. Relative rotation of the members 14, 18 varies the eccentricity of the bend of the loop 18 with respect to the axis of the member 14.
