Abstract

624,240. Vehicle bodies. STRACHANS SUCCESSORS, Ltd., and HOULDCROFT, E. T. A. June 19, 1947, No. 16184. [Class 108 (i)] A vehicle-body frame member which supports interior and exterior panels is formed as a metal tube of generally rectangular section having, in each of two opposite walls (which are to face inwardly and outwardly, respectively, of the vehicle), a centrally-arranged rectangular groove 11 and 12, of rectangular section defining a pair of coplanar, flat, flanking shoulders 13, 13 and 14, 14. Each of the grooves stiffen the member and one coacts with means for effecting a weather seal between the edges of two adjacent panels. The member may be formed as an extruded section or built up of two identical channel sections with cranked walls 15 as shown.
