Abstract

623,828. Ventilators. SANDY, E. April 2, 1947, No. 9028. [Class 137] Louvres, arranged in a window opening, fanlight &c., comprise flaps 1 which are carried by bearer brackets 2 pivoted at 4 in the side panels 6, which are grooved at 12 to receive one flange 11 of the adjacent coupling bar 7 to exclude water, the edge of the opposite flange 11A being of saw tooth form to make close contact with the faces of the closed flaps. Extensions 8 of the brackets 2 are pivoted by pins 9 to the bars 7, springs 10 on the pins preventing vibration. Upper and lower rocker plates 13 connected by a rod 16 are operated by a hand rail 14. The flaps may be locked by a spring-loaded bolt which engages holes 22 in the lower rocker plate 13. A sealing strip 17, fixed to the horizontal member 18 of the frame, is clamped between the outer face of the top flap and the upper edge faces of the coupling bars 7.
