Abstract

623,588. Moulds. LUCE, R. W. Dec. 30, 1946, No. 38059. Convention date, March 6, 1945. [Class .87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] Moulds for casting television screens, reflecting signs &c. from thermoplastics or vitreous materials, have a plurality of cavities 30 therein, each cavity having a curved smooth surface made by impressing into a metal piate an implement having the desired curvature and surface characteristics (see Group XXII). Balls of one thirty-second of an inch diameter or less are used to form cavities constituting a 90 degree sector of a sphere and spaced for example at a distance of 0.005 of an inch apart. In a modification the cavities are elongated in the horizontal direction by spacing the holes a greater distance in one direction than in the other.
