Abstract
623,567. Valves. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Aug. 1, 1946, No. 22993. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1945. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVI] A control valve for a suctionoperated motor has a ported valve seat over which slides a soft-rubber valve body having one or more recesses in its operating face. The valve body 37, Fig. 3, fits loosely in a metal housing 39, the projections 41 interlocking with the slots 42, and slides through the guide 44, Fig. 5, over the seat 38 on the cover 24 of a vehicle windscreen-wiper motor. In the seat are ports 50, 54 connecting via the nipple 57 with a suction reserve tank and through a check valve with the intake manifold of the vehicle's engine, and ports 51, 52, 53, 55 of which the port 55 is connected to a windscreen-washer pump. When the control valve is in the motor-working position determined by the stop 46, a recess 48 in the valve body connects the ports 50, 51, so that suction is applied via a port 30 in the seat 29 of an automatic rotary valve mechanism, a groove 60 in the rotary valve 26 and a port 31 to the left-hand side of a chamber in which moves a vane 35. The right-hand side of the chamber is connected to atmosphere via a port 34, a passage 33, ports 53, 52, connected by the recess 49 and a port 32 in the rotary-valve seat. At the end of the movement of the vane to the left, a kicker-element 27, moving between the ears 28 on the rotary valve, is turned by the motor shaft 3 to an over-centre position from which it is snapped by the spring 27<SP>1</SP> to move the valve 26 to connect the port 32 to suction and reverse the movement of the vane. To stop the motor, the control valve is moved by the flexible wire 19 until the recess 49 connects the ports 53, 54, and suction is applied to the left-hand side of the chamber to move the vane until the disc 36 closes the port 34. In this position of the control valve the recess 47 is opposite the suction port 50 and prevents the formation of a pimple in the soft rubber. When the control valve is moved, against the plunger 63, so that the recess 49 connects the ports 54, 55, suction is applied via nipple 58 to operate the washer pump. Specification 597,504, [Group XXIII], is referred to.
