Abstract
620,512. Grinding-wheels. NORTON GRINDING WHEEL CO., Ltd. Sept. 19, 1946, No. 28145. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1945. [Class 60] In a pulpstone comprising a number of abrasive blocks 10 secured to a concrete core 11 by means of bolts 20, each abrasive block has an outer abrasive zone 15 in which are formed pores at least as large as the abrasive grains and an inner zone 17 which has pores smaller than the abrasive grains thereof and in which are threaded the holding bolts. The outer zone of each block contains between 36 and 60 per cent. of abrasive of size 16 to 90, bonded with a vitrified ceramic bond. The large pores in the outer zone are obtained by adding granular coke to the abrasive mixture, the coke burning away during the firing process.
