Abstract
619,494. Waist rails for vehicle bodies. ROE, Ltd., C. H., and ROE, C. H. Aug. 28, 1945, No. 22073. [Class 108 (i)] A waist rail for a vehicle body is of rolled steel and comprises a shallow channel D, the face C of which is flat or outwardly curved and the edges E of which extend away from one another and lie in parallel to the face C of the rail, the extremities F being doubled over at 9. A slot H may be formed for passage of a metal strap J secured to a vehicle pillar above and below the rail. The rails preferably extend as far as possible continuously around the vehicle. On a two-deck vehicle the bottomdeck rail should be of deeper section than the top-deck rail.
