Abstract

616,515. Two-part couplings. DUKE, G. E., and NICHOLSON, C. H. Sept. 18, 1946, No. 27965. [Class 38 (i)] The readily removable socket contacts 14 of a coupling are surrounded by flanged insulating sleeves 19 threaded into the base 11 of a metal box 10 and clamped by means of a sealing washer 17 so as to form water-tight joints, for which purpose also sealing material is placed at 21, 22. The base 11 may be insulating or have insulating bushes. When a body 30 carrying the coupling pins 28 is removed, water can leak away through an opening 6, and a hinged cover 34 drops by gravity to close the box 10. The Provisional Specification states also that the sleeves may be spaced from the inner surface of the base by a sealing washer.
