616,061. Turning. ROTHERHAM & SONS, Ltd., and OLIVER, C. S. Sept. 12, 1946, No. 27364. [Class 83 (iii)] A slide-rest for a bench-lathe comprises a rectilinearly-movable slide 13 mounted on a guide 14 which carries an axially-located, rotatable screw 16 engaged by an internal thread of a part 18 fast with the slide, the said part carrying two reversely-directed, axiallyadjustable stop members 26, 27, which are parallel with the screw and, when the slide reaches predetermined limits of its travel, engage abutments 40, 25, radially-spaced from but fast with the screw 16. The stop-member 26 screws into the member 18, and is slidably keyed in a sleeve 29. The stop-member 27 screws into the stop 26 and slides in a sleeve 35. The abutment 40 is mounted on a conically-recessed ring 43 to be adjustable circumferentially round a disc 41. An indexing pointer may be provided. The guide and slide may be constructed as described in Specification 616,060, and form the lower slide and guide of a slide-rest as described in Specification 616,058.
