Abstract

615,904. Centrifugal machines. RONCI, F. M. Oct. 31, 1945, No. 28856. [Class 23] Small articles are placed in a basket separator 123 which is then secured in place on a rotor 120. A container 58, half full of liquid, which stands on a hydraulically operated table 60, is raised to its top position so as to immerse the basket in the liquid. The container is then lowered to a position in which the basket is out of the liquid but still within the upper part of the container. With the parts in this position, the basket is spun and to complete the removal of excess liquid the rotation of the basket is reversed. The container is then moved to its lowest position and the basket can be detached from the rotor and removed. The apparatus is enclosed in a casing 22 provided with a hinged door 80 which is opened for the removal of the container 58 and the door has a vertically sliding panel 68, which can be lowered into the position shown for the removal of the basket. The casing parts are held together by two rods 30 which also provide guidance for the table 60. The rotor is driven by a reversible electric motor 158 through a belt-gear and the controlling handle 128 applies a brake to the rotor when in its neutral or stop position. A flared guide 186 moving with the table 60, when the latter is in its top position, engages a pin 166 on the spindle of the controlling handle and ensures that the motor is stopped when the basket is immersed. The table 60 has a lug 108 which engages a part of the panel 68 and lifts the panel to its closed position where it is held by a spring latch 90. U.S.A.
