Abstract
615,898. Electricity supply. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BROOKS, N. W. Aug. 22, 1945, No. 21456. [Class 38 (iv)] Condenser arrangements.-Condensers are charged in succession from one circuit and discharged in succession into a separate circuit or circuits to obtain electrically separate output voltages, or the arrangement may multiply the voltage. Each condenser c is connected to corresponding segments S1 and S2 on two commutators mounted on a common rotating shaft and pairs of brushes are connected respectively to the charging terminals DC and output terminals O. Additional output circuits may be obtained by providing additional pairs of output brushes displaced around the commutators. Voltage multiplication may be obtained by a series connection of the output circuits which may include the input brushes. The frequency of the output ripple may be increased by connecting in parallel pairs of output brushes so placed around the commutators that each condenser commences to discharge at a different instant. The condensers may rotate with the commutators or be connected to the segments through slip rings.
