615,306. Ornamenting shoe uppers. MAKSSIM, J. Dec. 16, 1944, Nos. 25272/44 and 21899/45. Drawings to Specification. [Class 17 (ii)] [Also in Group XV] A one-piece component of a shoe upper equivalent in size and shape to a number of principal upper components is ornamented differently in adjacent areas by surface treatment to give the appearance of being made in two or more parts. Such surface treatment may be applied to the component before or after it is cut out. The upper component may be of leather, imitation leather, rubber, fabric, rubber or synthetic material, and the ornamentation may be by colouring or printing, embossing, branding or by a photographic process. A water resistant film may subsequently be applied. Alternatively, the surface treatment may comprise imparting to one area of the component an appearance resembling imitation crocodile, lizard or other fancy leather. The invention is applicable to sandal straps. Specifications 23279/05, [Class 17], and 404,556 are referred to.
