[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Welding.-Clamps for use in flash &c. welding sheet-metal channel &c. sections for window-frames &c. correct or prevent crosssectional malformations and act as electrodes. The section c is gripped near its end by arms 21, 21a with toes 23 fitting inside side channels g of the section and co-operating with fixed and fluid-pressure movable abutments 30, 29, respectively. The section base f, and sub-base h are gripped by stepped fluid-pressure &c. operated pivoted arms 33 co-operating with a rebated fixed block 16. The arms 21, 21a are operated by a disc 20 running in grooves 24, carried by a rod 19 of a further fluid-operated piston 17. The sets of jaws are mounted on a carrier 15 inclined to suit the mitre angle, and a corresponding insulated carrier acts as the other electrode.
