612,195. Grinding piston-ring cuts. PEZOUS, M. May 17, 1946, Nos. 14992 and 14993. Convention dates, March 29, 1939, and July 10, 1939. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] A tool device for operating on the ends of piston-rings having a frame 1 with a flat face and a grinding-wheel 24 angularly adjustable about an axis parallel to the face and adapted to act simultaneously on both ends of the ring face for holding the ring. The edges of the r, is provided with jaw elements 3 freely pivoted on the frame and located on either side of the tool and a third jaw element 5 slidable on the jaws 3 pivoted at 4 make an angle of less than ninety degrees with the flat face, while the jaw 6 has a downward projection slidable in a groove 6 and is held in engagement with the ring by a lever 7 whose fulcrum is adjustable in a slot 12. Forward movement of the jaw 5 is limited by an adjustable stop comprising a screwed rod 9 and a nut and locking nut 10. The grinding-wheel rotates in a slot 25 and is journalled in a casing 21 which may be secured at any desired inclination within the limits of a graduated groove 26 by nuts 27. The wheel is rotated from a hand crank through a pair of bevel gears 22.
