Abstract

610,730. Photographic roll-film cameras. KODAK, Ltd. Feb. 6, 1946, No. 3739. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1944. [Class 98 (i)] Means for rewinding film on to the supply spool in a roll-film camera having a oneway clutch associated with the film winding to prevent reverse winding and an exposure counter, includes a manually operable member, which, when actuated, moves the clutch and counter mechanism into inoperative positions and the rewinding knob into an operable position. As shown, the exposure counting mechanism consists of a slide 43 having a projection 44 engaged once per revolution of the feed sprocket 10 by a single-toothed gear 45 thereon, said engagement moving member 43 to the fight and causing spring arm 46 to engage one of the teeth of the counter disc 33 and thus rotate it one unit against the action of a flat spiral spring 32, which is prevented from rotating the disc by a pawl 38. When the full number of exposure frames has been wound off, as illustrated, further rotation of the winding knob will not affect the counter disc, thus indicating the fact to the operator who then slides the handle 29 to the left-hand end of the slot 30, thereby similarly moving the member 28 against the action of spring 31 and causing simultaneously (1) projection 49 to disengage the pawl 38 from the disc 33 which then returns to its rest position three teeth beyond that corresponding to the appearance of the first numeral in the window 35 to allow for winding on the leading portion of a new film; (2) projection 27 to engage arm 16 of a bell-crank lever pivoted at 17 on the casing, whereby rod 15 is caused to disengage the oneway pawl 12 from the ratchet-wheel 11 on the shaft 10 towards which it is urged by a spring 14; and (3) the other arm 18 of the bell-crank lever to move out of the notch 19 in the shaft engaging the supply spool, allowing the rewinding knob 22 to rise clear of the casing 23 under the influence of spring 24. Thus, by holding the handle 29 in its extreme left-hand position the film may be rewound on to the supply spool by rotating the knob 22.
