[Class 81(ii)] Apparatus for producing reduced pressures in limited spaces on the body includes means for alternately and successively producing two reduced pressures of predetermined duration, and means for independently adjusting the pressures. In Fig. 2, a vacuum source 18 is connected to a reducing valve 22, maintaining a pressure of 0.4 atmospheres in conduits 20, and also to a reducing valve 24 connected to a cup 14 through conduit 28 provided with a throttle aperture 29. By means of cam 32, which may be continuously rotatable, or be provided with a manually or mechanically operated lever 30, valve 24 is alternately adjusted to give the successive different reduced pressures within the cup. In Fig. 3, the vacuum source 34 is connected to valve 38 (corresponding to valve 22 above), and to two further pressure reducing valves 40, 42, adjusted each to a different pressure, and connected via throttle valves 56, to a three way cock 48 connected to a distributor 52 serving one or more cups. The cups may thus be connected alternately with valves 40, 42, throttle valves 56 being adjusted to give the desired transition periods from one pressure to the other. Cock 48 is operated by lever 66, and motor driven cam 62, the lever 66 serving to operate switch 68 controlling parallel current branches 70, 72 of the motor circuit, each branch containing an adjustable resistance 74, 76 whereby the speed of the motor is varied. Pressure gauges 78, and filters 80 are indicated. Reference is also made to an arrangement wherein a piston type vacuum pump is connected to the vacuum cup.
