606,282. Expansion joints. SWAN & CO., Ltd., T. Dec. 6, 1945, No. 33076. Convention date, Sept 7, 1943. [Class 20(iv)] An expansion joint and dowel assembly comprises an expansion joint 5, at least one dowel pin 10 disposed through the joint, and at least one U-shaped chair 7 with the dowel pin passing through one lug 11 and welded at 9 to the other 8. The rods 12, 14, 16 welded at 13, 15, and 17 respectively connect the chairs together, and to assemble the apparatus the free ends of the dowel rods are passed through the joint 5 and the chair assembly attached thereto by bending the ends 19 of the clips 18 over the rods 14 and 16. The rods 12 may be fixed by anchoring pins 20 driven into the sub level, and an expansion sleeve 22 may be provided at the free end of each dowel.
