Abstract

605,082. Drying feathers. OAKLEY, R. C., and OAKLEY, M. M. Dec. 13. 1945. No. 33783. [Class 34(ii)] Feathers are dried in a cylindrical fabric bag through which steam and hot air is passed. The bag is suspended from a steam and air pipe above a vertically reciprocating plate so that the bag and contents are agitated during drying. Condensed steam is dried out of the feathers by the passage of warm air. In order to retain the shape of the bag and permit the " concertinaing " movement, a number of loops may be secured around the bag.
