604,569. Printing - machines. GOSS PRINTING PRESS CO., Ltd. Nov. 27, 1945, No. 32045. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1944. [Class 100(ii)] Inking-apparatus.-In , inking-apparatus of the kind comprising a duct 10, a partially submerged duct-roller 11 and a doctor blade 13, the duct is mounted for pivotal movement about the axis 16 of the roller 11 between an operative position as shown in Fig. 3 and an inoperative position as shown in Fig. 2 for gravity discharge of the ink over the edge thereof, for cleaning or for changing from one colour to another. The duct 10, doctor 13 and a pickup roller 34 are movable as a unit, the shaft of the roller 13 being rotatable in a bush 20 screwed to a bearing 15 secured to the machine frame by blocks 17, and side members 24 of the duct 10 being rotatable on the bearing 15. Flat machined surfaces on the machine frame and the member 24 locate the duct in normal position. Before tilting the duct, a cover plate is removed and a drainage guard 54 with spout 55 is fitted. Movement of the duct is effected by turning a worm 25 of the irreversible type engaging a wheel 29 fixed to a shaft 30 carrying crank arms 31 connected by links 32 to lugs 33 on the duct. The duct comprises a horizontal surface 40, an inclined wall 42 which becomes horizontal when the duct is tilted, and a more steeply inclined wall 41. A jacket 43 is provided for heating or cooling fluid, hose pipes 48 being connected to inlet and outlet pipes 46, 47.
