Abstract

603,618. Endless-belt conveyers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 31, 1945, No. 28903. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1944. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVIII] In a control circuit for causing the unloading of a conveyor at any one of a plurality of points an adjustable potentiometer on the conveyor and another at the receiving point, when in parallel and similarly adjusted cause operation of the unloading device. In the embodiment shown, the potentiometer 11 having brushes 12, 13, 14, is carried by a conveyor unit (not shown) which is attached to and moved by a cable driven in any known manner. Each receiving station comprises the solenoid 18 which actuates the unloading device on the unit connected with a normally blocked triode 26 the grid bias of which is supplied from rectifier bridge 25 in conjunction with potentiometer 27 and rectifier bridge 23. The setting of potentiometer 27 is characteristic for each receiving station and upon the arrival at a selected receiving station of a conveyor unit having the appropriate locking key 10 depressed, the brushes 12, 13, 14, make connection with contacts 15, 16, 17, and the potential applied across bridge 25 is zero, valve 26 thereupon conducts and solenoid 18 is energized to tip the conveyor element. With no conveyor unit at a receiving point or with one having a locking key 10 set to unload at a different receiving point, the bridge 25 in conjunction with register 28 supplies a negative bias to valve 26 to maintain it non-conducting and the unloading device inactive. Keys 10 and the tipping mechanism may be automatically or manually re-set.
