Abstract

602,068. Aerials. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Nov. 20, 1945, No. 31208. Convention date, July 20, 1940. [Class 40 (vii)] In a broad-band aerial system comprising at least two adjacent parallel aerial elements, approximately half a wavelength long and separated by a distance small compared to their length, the extremities of the elements are short-circuited together over a substantial part of their length as shown in Fig.. 2. The aerial, which is fed from or feeds into a transmission line 9, comprises three parallel elements 6, 7, 8 the ends of which are shortcircuited together over a length between 1/5 and 1/20 of the total length by the metal plates 10. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 3, comprising two aerial elements, one of the elements comprises a narrow metallic strip 11, the breadth of which is less than the separation between the elements.
