599,381. Mixing - machines. MARRIOTT, A. W., WEBB, E. H., and WINCET, Ltd. Nov. 17, 1944, Nos. 22883/44 and 2576/45. [Class 86] A concrete mixer has a mixing pan with a fixed outer wall 1, rotating base 2, and rotating inner wall 3, the materials being carried by the base past a plurality of circumferentially arranged mixing elements to be treated successively thereby. The materials are supplied in the requisite proportions to the inlet X by devices such as those described in Specifications 527,028 and 577,388, and are carried by the rotating base 2 past a series of four rotating stirrers 4, 5, 6, 7, to an outlet Y. Each of the stirrers 4, 5, 6, 7, comprises four blocks 8 mounted to rotate on a central vertical axle which is driven by the engagement of a pinion thereon with a gear wheel on a vertical shaft 24 which rotates with the central wall 3. The latter is rotated with the base 2 by a driving shaft 11, belt 13, and pulley 18. The base 2 is also driven by a pinion engaging rollers mounted below the base, the pinion being carried by a horizontal shaft driven through bevel gearing from the vertical shaft 24. A wearing plate 20 is carried on the inner surface of the wall 1 and a rubber layer covers the base 2. According to the second Provisional Specification the driving belt assists discharge of the mix.
