Abstract

597,237. Fish-filleting machines. ATLANTIC COAST FISHERIES CO. March 21, 1945, No. 7164. Convention date, May 10, 1944. [Class 28 (ii)] In a fish-filleting machine in which fillets remain attached along a thin line at each side of the backbone, and also remain attached to the ribs, which attachments are severed by moving the fish along a fixed spaced pair of ribbing knives as described in Specification 452;688 the front section 11 of each ribbing knife is yieldingly mounted, e.g. on a flat spring 20 at its front so that the spacing between them can accommodate various thicknesses of fish, Fig. 3 shows the forward ribbing knives 11 secured to springs 20 whose lower ends are fixed on supports 14. The rear ribbing knives 12 abut against the fixed ends of the knives 11. The knives 12 slope upwardly and outwardly towards the back ends, where discs 50, Fig. 5, rotated on shafts 51 finally cut off the fillets. Guard plates 62 are secured to the supports 14. Shields 60 extend lengthwise of the machine. The front end of each knife 11 overlaps the rotary guide discs, thereby limiting the inward movements of the knives. The bottom edge of each knife 11 is spaced from the top edge 26 of the support 14 to provide clearance. Specifications 589,509, 591,723 and 697,238 and U.S.A. Specification 2,137,291 also are referred to.
