Abstract
596,631. Gauge tubes. STEWART, J. C., and WHITE FOX INSTRUMENT CO., Ltd. July 31, 1945, No. 19622. [Class 106 (ii)] A rod is inserted into a gauge tube to economize in the liquid, which may be mercury. The rod may be of any section, that in Fig. 4 being square and touching the tube at the corners. Pips may be provided on the rod to space it from the walls of the tube centrally or eccentrically, Fig. 7 (not shown). In Fig. 9, the ends of the rod are enlarged and fluted to permit passage of the liquid or air, the tube having a top vent. In Fig. 11, the tube is in the form of a transparent panel with a scale on either front or back.
